For a genuinely warm welcome and first rate friendly service!
It became pretty obvious to us there are certain times of the day it’s really difficult to find good food. Some decent, fresh eats first thing in the morning before a long journey or busy day, a pit-stop for proper lunch, tea and homemade cake in the afternoon, early evening nibbles, that sort of thing.
We really didn’t want the usual pub fayre - we were looking for something a bit different.

You can drive into any big town, find somewhere to park up and grab a bite at any of the big, corporate places, but we rarely find it memorable. Our preference would be to escape for a bit, travel away from the hustle and find a nice, individual tea house in the country with a bit more personality... that's the Twisted Spoon!
